5 Cool Places Worth Visiting In Ang Thong

At present Ang Thong is full of local handicrafts including court doll, drum making, pottery brick and basketwork manufacturing. There are about 200 interesting temples that are beautiful and important in terms of history. Recently, local people have grown flowers like marigold and sunflower in big and wide fields and they become a new destination for a lot of tourists who show interest and come to visit the place.

Wat Chantharangsi

Wat Chantharangsi,  Tumbol Huaphai, Amphoe Mueang Ang Thong, Ang Thong  province. Worship “ Luangpho Sod”  (Luangpho Sod Chanthasaro) which housing the metal image. This Buddha image has a lap width of approximately 6 meters and 9 inches, and a height of 9.9 meters. Visiting temple of the tetrahedron and a height of 48 meters, width 24 meters, length 33 meters. Chapel there is a sacred Buddha image can be rocked back and forth called “Luangpho Yok” is a stucco art Ayutthaya.


Wat Pa Mok Worawihan

 Wat Pa Mok Worawihan  there is a beautiful gilded reclining Buddha made of brick, and plaster. Wat Pa Mok Worawihan is located in municipal Tambon Pa Mok, Amphoe Pa Mok, Ang Thong Province. Inside the temple there is a beautiful gilded reclining Buddha, the image is 22.58 meters from the topknot to the feet.  It is assumed to have been constructed in the Sukhothai period.  Legend of this Buddha image was that he floated along the river and sank in front of this temple.  People offered sacrifices to the Buddha image before pulling him from the river to house on the riverbank.  In addition legend of this reclining Buddha could speak, recoder is Phrakru Pamokmuni abbot of  Wat Pa Mok. Worship wihan of  Reclining Buddha  and chapel, which is a Ayutthaya Architecture.


Ban Bang Sadet Court Doll Center

 Ban Bang Sadet Court Doll Center  is located in Amphoe Pa Mok, Ang Thong Province, a high raised Thai house behind Wat Tha Sutthawat in Tambon Ban Bang Sadet, Amphoe Pa Mok.  The establishment of Ban Bang Sadet Court Doll Project was initiated by Her Majesty Queen Sirikit in the 9th  in 1976.  Its main purpose is to restoration of the art of court doll and help the villagers earn supplementary income.  Court dolls are displaying Thai-style course of life and culture, e.g. Thai kids’ recreation, Thai orchestra or various types of Thai fruits appropriate as souvenirs.


Wat Muang

Wat Muang is located at Mu 6, Tambon Huataphan, Amphoe Wiset Chai Chan, Ang Thong province.  Wat Muang is enshrined Phra Phuttha Maha Nawamin Sakyamuni Sri Wiset Chai Chan , the biggest Buddha statue in the world. The lap width is 63.05 meters, the height from the base of the Buddha to the child 95 meters, the construction period is 16 years. Inside the temple there are landmarks such as the Ubosot, surrounded by the biggest lotus petals in the world.   The upper floor is enshrined the first Silver Buddha.


Wat Khun Inthapramun

Wat Khun Inthapramun  is located in Tambon Inthapramun, Amphoe Pho Thong,  Ang Thong province. Worship  "Phraputtasaiyat or Phra Sri Muang Thong, the largest and longest reclining Buddha in the world, 50 meters from the topknot to the feet, is enshrined here. The face looks gorgeous, cool.



  Originally, the reclining Buddha image was housed in the wihan, but this temple was on fire and was left deserted with the Buddha image in the open for centuries.  Buddhists from all over the country always make their visits to worship the image.
